A video produced in 2012 through the facilities of eMAP at the University of Saskatchewan featuring Donna Dalziel. This video was produced to share the engagement activities that Donna has developed for use with individuals with frontotemporal dementia.

Personal stories of spouse caregivers of individuals with frontotemporal dementia.
In 2012 three members of the telehealth-delivered support group for caregivers of individuals with frontotemporal dementia recorded their personal experiences as caregivers. These videos are available on the Projects page.

The Third Canadian Consensus Conference on Diagnosis and Treatment of Dementia (2006) Official Website, designed to allow you to view and download the evidence-based recommendations and supporting materials developed through the Third Canadian Consensus Conference on Diagnosis and Treatment of Dementia (CCCDTD3).

The New Rural Economy (NRE) Research Program is a partnership initiative of the Canadian Rural Restructuring Foundation (CRRF).  It brings together policy analysts, local leaders, researchers, the business community, and municipal and non-government agencies to formulate and to address vital rural issues.  Visit their website for an overview of the project.

The Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) – University of Stirling, Scotland
The DSDC works to disseminate research and good practice about home and hospital care for people with any type of dementia including Lewy body, multi-infarct, vascular and alcohol-related dementia, as well as Alzheimer’s disease.

The Department of Health National Dementia Strategy – England
The first ever National Dementia Strategy is a landmark document that will transform the quality of dementia care in England. The National Dementia Strategy is backed by £150 million over the first two years. It will increase awareness of dementia, ensure early diagnosis and intervention and radically improve the quality of care that people with the condition receive.

A Strategy for Alzheimer Disease and Related Dementias in Saskatchewan pdf (0.1 MB)
From the Saskatchewan Health website this is a report prepared by the Alzheimer sub-committee of the Provincial Advisory Committee of Older Persons in collaboration with the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. The report was submitted to the Minister of Health December 2004.

Rising Tide: The Impact of Dementia on Canadian Society
Prepared in 2010 for the Alzheimer Society of Canada, the Rising Tide report outlines the projected social and economic costs of dementia in Canada.

World Alzheimer Report
Published by Alzheimer's Disease International, this report provides a picture of the global economic impact of Alzheimer's disease and dementia, and contains important policy recommendations. Estimates of direct and indirect costs are broken down by world regions.

Canadian Dementia Resource and Knowledge Exchange (CDRAKE): CDRAKE's site can connect you with resources about dementia. The site is dynamic with regular up dates, and interactive forums. You can subscribe to CDRAKE's newsletter to receive information in your inbox.

Life and Minds is the web presence of the Canadian Dementia Knowledge Translation Network (CDKTN). CDKTN is a network for knowledge translation and exchange of research in Alzheimer's disease and dementia. The video created about the Rural and Remote Memory Clinic is available on the Life and Minds site.

Alzheimer Knowledge Exchange Resource Centre is another source of information about Alzheimer Disease and related dementia. With a Resource Centre and opportunities to participate in forums and discussions, this site offers a few ways to access information.

This document was prepared for members of the telehealth-facilitated caregiver support group for spousal caregivers of individuals diagnosed with atypical dementias. It has been added to our website because it is a useful resource for any caregiver of someone with an atypical dementia.
